What's involved?

The role - As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the construction team, managing and monitoring costs. Amongst other responsibilities you will:

• Manage sub-contractors to ensure we get the best deal
• Pay sub-contractors and deal with contractual and legal issues
• Manage the project finances to ensure we stay on budget

Your career path - Qualify as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and your options are almost endless. You could choose to pursue a specialist career path, move into commercial management or another senior management role. Follow the commercial management route and you could rise from Commercial Manager to Commercial Director, which will involve taking direct responsibility for multi-million pound projects.

Your qualities - As well as strong numeracy and well-developed team and influencing skills, you will have the passion and enthusiasm to keep the momentum going in a project.
